2021 - ITV Creates 2021, Curator
ITV Creates is a series of artist made idents for the ITV main channel. Since 2019 artists have been featuring on the TV and online showing their personal artistic responses to re-making the logo in their style or, for 2020, working with groups of people to help realise the logo creatively through co-creation.
For 2021 ITV Creates wanted to reflect on a difficult year and the negative effects Covid-19 had on people feeling isolated. As a reaction we worked with 12 new artists and partnered them with a collaborator from a different walk of life to co-create new and innovative idents. The new works of art aimed to be hyper-modern and a unique blend of two specialism working together for the first time.
In order of appearance below: artist Sharon Walters with 2020 Landscape Gardener of Year, Mark Lane; artist Melanie King with physicist Dr Lucie Green; artist Jason Wilsher-Mills with puppet maker Judith Hope; artist MAMIMU (June Mineyama-Smithson) with Neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart; Thomas Wolski with Urban Projections (Rebecca Smith), Rosalind Davis & Justin Hibbs with dancer Jamal Sterrett, Walter and Zoniel with science teacher Genevieve Bent, Megan Broadmeadow with drone specialists Mike Bishop and Ben Sheppard, Kingsley Nebechi with engineer Mimi Nwosu, and Nadim Chaudry with robot engineers Inovo. We ended 2020 with two new festive idents by Designs in Air and Mariel Osborn.
